Q:
Where can I get information about current job openings?
A: Job announcements are posted on this website,
at the Human Resources Office, on the 24-hour
Job Line and through advertisements, or you may
request an announcement and application by calling
the application request line (775) 782-9876.
Q: Do I need to submit an application
in order to apply?
A: Yes, a Douglas County application is required in order to be
considered for any open position.
Q: Do I need to submit a separate application
for each position that I would like to apply for?
A: Yes, a separate application needs to be submitted for each individual
position for which you wish to apply. Photocopies of an application
are acceptable, however, each application must have an original
signature and the correct job title.
Q: Do I need to meet all the requirements
listed on the job announcement to qualify?
A: Yes, you must meet all of the “minimum job requirements” to be considered for a position.
It is important to read the job announcement carefully for specific
requirements. Often we require certain information to be included
or attached to the application, i.e., printout of driving record,
typing certificate, POST certificate or other education and/or training
to meet minimum requirements.
Q: Where do I submit an application?
A: You may drop off your application at the Human
Resources Office at 1594 Esmeralda Avenue in Minden (Minden Inn
Building). You may send your application through
the mail to: P.O. Box 218, Minden, NV 89423 or submitted
on-line at:
recruitment@co.douglas.nv.us.
Applications may be submitted by fax to (775) 782-9083. If you submit
a faxed application, you must also submit the original application
within one week of closing date.
Q: May I leave a copy of my resume
on file for future job openings?
A: Due to the volume of inquiries we receive, we cannot keep resumes
on file, and we can only accept applications for positions which
are currently open.
Q: How long will it take before I hear
about a decision?
A: After the position closing date, applications are reviewed and
screened based on qualifications and candidates are notified by
written response within three weeks on the status of your application.
Q: Do I need to take a test?
A: Most of our positions at Douglas County do require either a performance
test, written test and/or oral examination.
Q: Will I be notified if another candidate
is selected?
A: Once a successful candidate has been selected for the position
all applicants will be notified by written response.
Q: What if I have additional questions?
A: If you have additional questions, please contact the Human Resources
office at (775) 782-9860, e-mail us at recruitment@co.douglas.nv.us, or stop by our office .
