Q:
Where can I get information about current job openings?
A: Job announcements are posted on this website
and at the Human Resources Office. Job opening
updates are available on the 24-hour Job Line by
calling (775) 782-9824 and advertised in various
local publications. You may request an application
package by calling our application request line
at (775) 782-9876.
Q: Do I need to submit an application
in order to apply?
A: Yes, a Douglas County application is required in order to be
considered for any open position.
Q: Do I need to submit
a separate application for each position for which
I would like to apply?
A: Yes, a separate application needs to be submitted for each individual
position for which you wish to apply. Photocopies of an application
are acceptable, however, each application must have an original
signature and the correct job title.
Q: Do I need to meet all the requirements
listed on the job announcement to qualify?
A: Yes, you must meet all of the “minimum job requirements”
to be considered for a position.
It is important to read the job announcement carefully for specific
requirements. Often we require certain information to be included
or attached to the application, i.e., printout of driving record,
typing certificate, POST certificate or other education and/or training
to meet minimum requirements.
Q: Where do I submit an application?
A: You may drop off your application at the Human
Resources Office at 1616 8th Street in Minden (Courthouse
Building). You may send your application through
the mail to: P.O. Box 218, Minden, NV 89423 or submitt
on-line at recruitment@co.douglas.nv.us.
Applications may be submitted by fax to (775) 782-9083.
If you submit a faxed application, you must also
submit the original application within one week
of the closing date.
Q: May I leave a copy of my resume
on file for future job openings?
A: Due to the volume of inquiries we receive, we cannot keep resumes
on file, and we can only accept applications for positions which
are currently open.
Q: How long will it take before I hear
about a decision?
A: After the position closing date, applications
are reviewed and screened based on qualifications.
Candidates are notified by written response
within three weeks of receipt on the status of their
application.
Q: Do I need to take a test?
A: Most of our positions at Douglas County require
either a performance test, written test and/or oral
examination.
Q: Will I be notified if another candidate
is selected?
A: Once a candidate has been selected for the position,
all applicants will be notified by written response.
Q: What if I have additional questions?
A: If you have additional questions, please contact
the Human Resources office at (775) 782-9860, stop
by our office, or e-mail us at recruitment@co.douglas.nv.us. |
